Smith to miss IPL final
Rajasthan opener Graeme Smith has been ruled out of the IPL final because of a hamstring injury.
He sustained the injury during the semi-final against Delhi on Friday.Smith had actually picked up the injury in the game against Chennai and was rested for Rajasthan's last two league games. He came back to play the semi-final but pulled up while running a single. He then batted with a runner.
Smith's injury is a blow to Rajasthan. He is the second-highest run-getter in the tournament with 441 runs at an average of 49. He has also put up a great opening partnership with Swapnil Asnodkar. The duo have put on two century stands.
"Unfortunately, he is out of the final. We have to make the big decision on who will open the innings with Swapnil. Younis Khan and Kamran Akmal come to my mind as being likely to open in the final," said skipper Shane Warne.
Rajasthan take on Chennai in the final to be held on Sunday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
