Sanga: One of my toughest knocks
Kumara Sangakkara, who struck a match winning 144 in the third Test it was perhaps his toughest knock given the circumstances.
Sanga, speaking to a TV channel after bagging the Man of the Match award said: "It was one of my toughest knocks, given the way the series was poised. First innings runs were very important for the team and I am happy I clicked."
Sangakkara said the Sri Lankan team has a great blend of youth and experience: "We have a great bunch of experienced players who are capable of providing leadership. Then there are youngsetrs like Ajantha Mendis and Dammika Prasad. There are guys who can step up at any given point of time."
"Whenever we needed someone to be responsible, someone stepped up."
Man of the Series Mendis, who broke Alec Bedser's recoed of maximum wickets in a debut three match Test series, meanwhile, thanked his team and fans for all the support.
"I am thankful to my team, the fans and my family who supported me so much."
Mendis said he did not think much as he did not want to complicate things: I just went in and did the basics right. That is all I wanted to do."
Mendis troubled India's famed middle order throughout the series, not letting them settled down to any kind of rhythm.
