- Zaheer's figures of 4 for 21 are his third best in ODIs, next only to his 5 for 42 against Sri Lanka at Margao on February 14, 2007 and 4 for 19 against Bangladesh at Dhaka on April 11, 2003.
- Zaheer's aforesaid figures are now the best by an Indian bowler at Dambulla, bettering Sachin Tendulkar's 3 for 21 against UAE in the Asia Cup on April 16, 2004.
- Thilan Thushara (44) posted his career-best score in ODIs, eclipsing his 28 against Pakistan at Karachi on June 29, 2008.
- Thushara and Kulasekara put on 74 runs for the seventh wicket - Sri Lanka's second best against India for this wicket-position, next only to the 126 between Mahela Jayawardene and Upul Chandana at Dambulla in 2005.
- Praveen Kumar (3/34) registered his best figures in seven matches. His bowling figures of 3 for 34 are his second best against Sri Lanka, next only to his career-best of 4 for 31 at Hobart on February 26, 2008.
- Virat Kohli (37) registered his best score in ODIs, surpassing his 12 on debut against Sri Lanka at Dambulla on August 18, 2008.
- Virat became the second Indian fielder to take three catches in an innings against Sri Lanka in Sri Lankad. Sourav Ganguly had held three catches at Colombo, RPS on August 5, 2001.
- Harbhajan Singh's wicket was Ajantha Mendis' 25th in 10 ODIs. His tally of 25 wickets at an average of 9.92 with a strike rate of 18.00, including two five-wicket hauls, is the second best by any bowler after 10 ODIs. West Indian Ottis Gibson had captured 28 wickets in his first 10 ODIs at an average of 15.07.
- Zaheer Khan received his fifth Man of the Match award - his second against Sri Lanka.
- Surprisingly, after the first two games, Mahela Jayawardene is the only player to aggregate 50 runs in the series - 63 runs at an average of 63.00.
