India vs SL, 3rd ODI: Stats highlights

A look at the statistical highlights of the third ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo on Sunday.

- For the first time in 23 years in a bilateral series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, India have won two successive ODIs. India had won the Dambulla ODI by 3 wickets on August 20 and by 33 runs at Colombo, RPS on August 24.

- India registered their sixth win against Sri Lanka in 21 ODIs at Colombo, RPS (Lost 12, NR 3).

Suresh Raina became the first Indian batsman to post a fifty in the present series.

- Raina registered his highest score in Sri Lanka, eclipsing his 35 against West Indies at Dambulla on 31.7.2005. Against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, his previous best was 17 at Dambulla on 18.8.2008.

- Raina's 53 is his second best score against Sri Lanka, next only to his 54 off 66 balls at Karachi on July 3, 2008.

- Raina's second fifty against Sri Lanka is his sixth in ODIs.

- Yuvraj Singh (12) is without a fifty in his last eight innings in ODIs.

- Yuvraj's six off Kulasekera to the mid-wicket boundary, was his 100th in ODIs. He became the third Indian batsman to hit 100 or more sixes, joining Sourav Ganguly (190) and Sachin Tendulkar (166).

- Chaminda Vaas, in his last 10 ODIs, has claimed only 7 wickets - in four games he failed to take a single wicket.

- Vaas, in his last eleven ODIs against India, has bagged just six wickets - in seven games he failed to capture a single wicket.

- Mahendra Singh Dhoni, with his 76 off 80 balls today, is the leading run-getter for India in the present series - 121 at an average of 40.33.

- Dhoni's innings of 76 is also the highest for India in the present series.

- Dhoni's sixth fifty against Sri Lanka is his 23rd in ODIs. Against Sri Lanka, his average is 64.00 - 896 in 19 innings, including one century and six fifties.

- Dhoni's innings is the highest individual score by an Indian captain in a bilateral series at Colombo, RPS, bettering Mohammad Azharuddin's 62 on 12.8.1993.

- As captain, Dhoni has averaged 56.54 in ODIs - 1244 in 30 innings, including one century and nine fifties.

- Dhoni's 76 is his highest score in Sri Lanka - his first fifty in Sri Lanka.

- Muttiah Muralitharan, without a wicket in his last two ODIs, has taken 3 wickets at 38.66 runs apiece in the first three games of the series as against Ajantha Mendis' tally of 8 at 12.37 runs apiece.

- Sanath Jayasuriya, is without a fifty in his last 13 ODI innings in Sri Lanka. He had last posted a fifty in Sri Lanka more than three years ago - 67 against India at Colombo, RPS on August 9, 2005.

- Kumar Sangakkara, in his last five ODI innings - all against India - has made just 7, 4, 19, 2 & 9.

- Sri Lanka, in their last 27 ODIs against India, have not recorded a partnership of 50 for the first wicket. Their last partnership of 50 or more against India was recorded more than four years ago - 63 by S.Jayantha and D.A.Gunawardene at Dambulla on 18.7.2004.

- Mahela Jayawardene, with two catches in India's innings, took his tally to 24 in 47 ODIs, establishing a fielding record in India-Sri Lanka ODIs, bettering Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 23 in 69 matches.

- Chaminda Vaas registered his 25th duck in ODIs. Only Sanath Jayasuriya (31) and Wasim Akram (28) have recorded more ducks than Vaas in ODIs.

- Harbhajan Singh (10-0-29-1) took his tally of wickets to 24 (ave.28.37) in 18 ODIs at Colombo, RPS - the most by any non-Sri Lankan bowler at this venue.

- Mahela Jayawardene became the first batsman to register two fifties in the present series.

- With 157 runs at an average of 78.50, Jayawardene is the leading run-getter in the present series.

- Jayawardene's 48th fifty (94 off 111 balls) is his 12th against India.

- Jayawardene and Thushara put on 81 runs - Sri Lanka's best partnership for the 8th wicket against India in ODIs, eclipsing the 49 between Dharmasena and Perera at Colombo, RPS on 22.7.2001.

- The aforesaid partnership is now the best for the 8th wicket on Sri Lankan soil, outstripping the 69 between Inzamam-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis for Pakistan against Sri Lanka at Galle on on July 5, 2000.

- Ajantha Mendis (10-0-56-3) for the first time in his ODI career, has conceded 50 runs in an innings.

- Mahendra Singh Dhoni got his 9th Man of the Match award in ODIs - his third against Sri Lanka.
