Eng vs SA 2nd ODI: Stats highlights
A look at the stats highlights of the second one-day international between England and South Africa at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.
- England's ten-wicket triumph is their biggest victory margin over South Africa, eclipsing their nine-wicket win at Bloemfontein on 23.1.2000.
- Overall, England's aforesaid win is their third by ten-wicket margin - their previous two being against West Indies at Chester-le-Street on 15.7.2000 and against Bangladesh at The Oval on 16.6.2005.
- South Africa's defeat by ten wickets is their second by such a margin. West Indies was the first team to register a ten-wicket victory against South Africa at Port of Spain on 11.4.1992.
- South Africa's 83 is their lowest completed innings total against England - their second lowest overall in ODIs, next only to the 69 against Australia at Sydney on 14.12.1993.
- The aforesaid total of 83 is the fourth lowest against England in ODIs.
- South Africa's 83 is the second lowest innings total without a single batsman being dismissed for a duck. India's total of 54 against Sri Lanka at Sharjah on 29.10.2000 is the lowest ever total without any one recording a duck.
- The aforesaid total is also the lowest at Trent Bridge, Nottingham - Sri Lanka's 138 against Pakistan on 14.6.1975 being the previous lowest at this venue.
- Stuart Broad produced his career-best bowling performance - his first five-wicket haul in ODIs.
- Broad's previous best bowling performance was 4 for 51 against India at Manchester on 30.8.2007.
- Broad (5/23) became the first English bowler to claim five wickets in an innings against South Africa, eclipsing Andy Caddick's figures of 4 for 19 at Johannesburg on 13.2.2000.
- Broad is now the second English bowler to claim five wickets in an innings at Trent Bridge. Paul Collingwood's figures of 6 for 31 against Bangladesh on 21.6.2005 are the best ever at this venue.
- Broad's second Man of the Match award is his first against South Africa.
- Matt Prior has equalled a world record and became the second English wicketkeeper after Alec Stewart (vs.Zimbabwe at Old Trafford on 13.7.2000) to effect 6 dismissals in an innings.
- Prior is the second wicketkeeper to effect six dismissals in an innings against South Africa. Australia's Adam Gilchrist was the first to achieve the feat - at Cape Town on 14.4.2000.
