MSD: We backed each other up
Indian skipper MS Dhoni said his players were all backing each other up after the team made light work of Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
Speaking to a TV channel after leading India to a series win against the islanders, Dhoni said: "It is good to win the series. The players are backing each other up. The batsmen, bowlers and even the fielders are filling up if someone fails."
Dhoni also conceded it was a good toss to win, given the conditions in the Premadasa: "It is definitely an advantage. The track eases out to the spinners after a while and a couple of early wickets did help."
Talking of early wickets, Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel again proved to be the trump cards. Though Zaheer did not get any wickets, he stifled the runs up and Munaf picked up two quick wickets.
The captain was involved in a brilliant partnership with Suresh Raina and both of them scored fifties yet again.
"We needed some runs and Suresh batted really well. We got out in quick succession and the last 10 overs were disappointing."
MSD was happy with the way the middle order has clicked in the series.
The brave captain, who had fever on Tuesday was seen struggling a bit in the middle in the courseof his knock.
"I had fever yesterday and I thought I would explode from the inside, I was feeling so hot and rugged. Had I continued for another five overs today, we would have got some more runs."
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jaywardene was gracious in defeat, saying the Indians played brilliant cricket.
"The Indians played really well and the mistakes we committed on the field did not help us at all."
The Lankan captain also said winning the toss could have been an advantage for the Indians but again blamed the indiscipline of his batsmen.
"Yes, the spinners get a bit more turn under the lights but had we been disciplined, we could have got the target. Sanath (Jayasuriya) played brilliantly but we could not follow up on his work."
"We will have to make sure we do not repeat the silly mistakes in the last match."
India and Sri Lanka clash for the fifth and final match of the series on Friday.
