Vettori wary of wounded Tigers
Daniel Vettori remains wary of Bangladesh despite the Tigers losing 13 players to 10-year bans in a dispute over the ICL.
All-rounder Vettori leads New Zealand in two Tests and three one-day internationals next month, but Bangladesh will have an unfamiliar look as they scramble to replace the players - led by former captain Habibul Bashar - banned by the Bangladesh Cricket Board after they signed up to play in the ICL.
However Vettori, who first captained his country on their last tour of the country four years ago, will not take the task lightly.
He told The New Zealand Herald: "The expectations are on us to win and that's fair enough. But Bangladesh can be a tricky country to tour.
"You look at history and how long it took New Zealand to start to perform consistently, and countries like Sri Lanka.
"You have to give Bangladesh due respect. I'm not going to sit here and say they're not good enough. They need to be given opportunities to try and progress."
Vettori and his team leave for Dhaka on September 30.
