SL may re-impose ICL ban
Sri Lanka sports minister Gamini Lokuge has indicated that he may re-impose the ban on players linked to the rebel ICL.
Last week, Sri Lanka Cricket lifted the ban on ICL players, allowing them to participate in domestic cricket tournaments.
Former skipper Marvan Atapattu and former internationals Upul Chandana, Avishka Gunawardena and Russel Arnold had all participated in the inaugural edition of the ICL.
But Lokuge said he was not consulted when the decision on lifting the ban was taken.
"I don't want our board to be against the Indian Cricket Board or the ICC (International Cricket Council)," Lokuge told the Daily Mirror.
"I have invited the board members for a meeting and have asked them to convince me about their decision (on revoking the ban).
"The decision by the interim committee was not taken with my consent and I am entitled to re-impose the ban."
The ICL is not sanctioned by the ICC Board of Control for Cricket in India and is a rival tournament to the approved Indian Premier League.
Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa is also due to meet with SLC chiefs to sort out the conflict between Sri Lanka's players and the SLC over Sri Lanka tour of England next year.
The dates of the tour clash with the IPL.
