Pakistan ease to victory
Shoaib Khan's half-century led Pakistan to a seven-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the T20 quadrangular series.
Opener Khan was removed by Christopher Mpofu - who took all three wickets for Zimbabwe - having struck 50 from 54 balls, but a steady 33 from Salman Butt saw Pakistan home with an over to spare.
Hamilton Masakadza had given Zimbabwe a blistering start with 53 off just 38 balls - including three sixes - but the opener saw his partners come and go with alarming frequency at the other end as Zimbabwe struggled to 107 for eight off their 20 overs.
Pakistan made light work of the target with Khan and Butt leading the way after Shahid Afridi (five) was caught at fine leg in the second over.
Khan was dismissed when he was caught behind by Tatenda Taibu off Mpofu, but not before he had recorded his maiden Twenty20 fifty and taken his side to the brink of victory, with just six runs required from the final 17 balls.
The inevitable was briefly delayed when Mpofu struck again in the same over to remove Khalid Latif, with Stuart Matsikenyeri taking the catch at long on.
But newcomer Alam and Butt guided Pakistan to the win as they move into Monday's final with a perfect 100% from their three group games.
