A look at the stats highlights of the fifth day's play in the first Test between India and Australia at Bangalore on Monday.

- Ishant Sharma's bowling figures of 7 for 117 (4/77 + 3/40) are the best by an Indian pacer at Bangalore, eclipsing Karsan Ghavri's 7 for 128 (2/77 + 5/51) against West Indies in 1978-79.

- For the first time in a Test match on home soil, Anil Kumble (43-6-129-0 & 8-0-31-0) has failed to take a single wicket.

- Overall, three times in his Test career, Kumble is without a wicket in a Test match - the previous two instances being against Australia (33.2-6-126-0) at Sydney in January 2000 and against Sri Lanka (37.0-4-121-0) at Colombo, SSC in July 2008.

- In four other Tests - vs.Sri Lanka at Kandy in July 1993; vs.New Zealand at Chennai in October 1995; vs. Sri Lanka at Nagpur in November 1997 and vs. Bangladesh at Chittagong (CDS) in May 2007, Kumble did not get an opportunity to bowl.

- While batting in the fourth innings of a Test match, Virender Sehwag has averaged 27.23 - 463 in 20 innings, including three fifties.

- Sehwag's batting average in the second innings is 27.92 - 1117 in 43 innings, including five fifties. His batting average in team's first innnings is far better - 68.18 - 4091 in 61 innings, including 14 centuries and 9 fifties.

- On his home ground, Rahul Dravid is averaging just 21.69 - 282 runs in 13 innings (7 Tests), including two fifties at a strike rate of 31.40.

- Gautam Gambhir (29) registered his best score against Australia, eclipsing his 21 in the first innings of the Bangalore Tests. In two Tests against Australia, he has made 54 runs at an average of 13.50.

- During the course of his innings, Sachin Tendulkar (11939 at an average of 54.02 in 151 Tests) has beaten Brian Lara's record of run-aggregate for one team - 11912 (ave.53.17) in 130 Tests for West Indies. Lara's over-all run-aggregate of 11,953 (ave.52.88) in 131 Tests, included 41 (ave.20.50) in just one Test for ICC World XI.

- Sachin is without a fifty in his last ten innings. Since scoring 153 against Australia at Adelaide in January 2008, his 49 at Bangalore on Monday is his highest score in ten innings. His sequence of scores has been 13, 0, 27, 12, 5, 31, 6, 14, 13 and 49. He is now 15 runs short of overtaking Lara's world record run-aggregate.

- The just concluded Bangalore Test witnessed 120 extras - a record in India-Australia Tests, surpassing the 115 in the 2003-04 Sydney Test. The said tally of extras is now the second, next only to the 168 between India and Pakistan in the 2007-08 Bangalore Test.

- Cameron White became the seventh bowler to bag Tendulkar's wicket as his first on debut in Test Cricket.

- Bowlers capturing Sachin Tendulkar's wicket as their first on Test debut: Ujesh Ranchod (Zimbabwe) at Delhi in 1992-93, Ruwan Kalpage (S.Lanka) at Colombo,SSC in 1993,
Mark Ealham (England) at Nottingham in 1996, Neil Johnson (Zimbabwe) at Harare in 1998-99, Jacob Oram (N.Zealand) at Wellington in 2002-03, Monty Panesar (England) at Nagpur in 2005-06 and Cameron White (Australia) at Bangalore in 2008-09
