PCB sackings continue

PCB boss Ijaz Butt has given the marching orders to Nadeem Akram, another senior official of the previous regime.

Board officials confirmed that the Director human resources Akram had been given one month's pay and told to leave.

Akram was brought into the PCB by former Chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf and was considered one of the most influential officials in the previous set up.

Akram's sacking came a day after Pakistan team manager, Talat Ali and selector Shafqat Rana resigned and new appointments were announced almost immediately by the new Chairman Ejaz Butt.

Sources say the new Chairman is also holding an internal inquiry into the performance of some senior officials including chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi and director cricket operations Zakir Khan.

"A decision on whether to retain them or not would be taken after the inquiry is completed," one source said.

Naghmi, a close aide of the former Chairman, is also expected to get the sack as Butt is reportedly considering the giving key positions to former Test players Majid Khan, Wasim Bari, Aamer Sohail and Saleem Altaf.
