India outplayed us: Ponting
Skipper Ricky Ponting Tuesday admitted that Australia had been completely outplayed by India in the second Test.
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Ponting said: "We were outplayed right from the first morning. They took the momentum away and we were under pressure since then.
"They thouroughly deserved to win. We were outplayed in all the departments."
Ponting said even though they lost the game by a huge margin, they will take a couple of positives from the match, which included Shane Watson's and Michael Clarke's run with the bat.
"Shane played well in the first innings and Michael Clarke is back in the runs now and that was good. Barring these two, there were not too many other positives. We need to have a good think about how we need to turn things around," he said.
The skipper said the team will take a couple of days before getting back to the nets ahead of the third Test that starts in Delhi on October 29.
"We will take a couple of days off, we need to tidy up a little aspects of the game. It's not about the skills, it's the fine tuning that we need to look at."
Ponting also praised India' bowling attack and said they did a fine job after the Indian batsmen had put up a big total.
"With 468, we always had our backs to the wall," he said.
