Having failed to put up a good show in the Mohali Test, Australian captain Ricky Ponting visited Meerut to buy bats from a factory which he visited in 1987.

Ponting and teammate Brad Haddin bought seven bats from S G Factory at Partapur on Thursday and spent four hours while selecting the bats.

Ponting bought two bats for himself and five more for Shane Watson and Mike Hussey, who could not accompany the duo.

The duo later ate at a local restaurant and savoured Indian dishes comprising chicken tandoori, dal makhani, butter paneer, biryani and chapatti.
