Pak-Windies Tests called off
The PCB announced on Tuesday that proposals to stage a two-Test series against West Indies next month had been shelved.
The Tests were set to be played after a three-match one-day international series against the Windies in Abu Dhabi and were intended to give the Pakistan team some much-needed Test match practice.
But while the one-dayers will still take place, there was insufficient time to also play the Tests.
"We have received an email in which the West Indies Cricket Board has said that they are unable to accept the invitation (for the Tests) because the time is too short for the series," explained PCB director general Salim Altaf.
"Now we are now concentrating on hosting India early next year after playing three ODIs against the West Indies in Abu Dhabi."
The news means that Pakistan, who saw a tour by Australia postponed in March due to security reasons, will not play a Test match in 2008.
The one-day matches are scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi on November 12, 14 and 16.
