BCCI to felicitate Kumble
The BCCI has decided to give a farewell to Anil Kumble for the services he has rendered to Indian cricket for the last 18 years.
According to BCCI sources, Kumble will be honoured at a function on November 6, the first day of the fourth and final Test between India and Australia in Nagpur.
The cricket board had decided Sunday to felicitate Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Saurav Ganguly for their contribution to the game on the same day.
Former BCCI President and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar along with BCCI President advocate Shashank Manohar, also the President of VCA, and all top office bearers of Indian cricket board would be present on the occasion.
While batting maestro Tendulkar is being felicitated for overtaking West Indian great Brian Lara to become the highest run-getter in Test cricket, Laxman is to be honoured for joining the elite club of Indian players to have appeared in 100 or more Tests. The Test at Nagpur will be his 100th.
Ganguly, who has announced that he is retiring from the game at the end of the series against Australia, would also be felicitated for his final Test appearance. The function will be held at 1930 hrs at the Club House of VCA stadium at Jamtha, sources added.
