KP wants to concentrate on the cricket

Kevin Pietersen has advised his team-mates financial security can be gained through traditional cricket routes.

After the Stanford Superstars took the US dollars 1million-a-man prize in the inaugural match, Pietersen acknowledged there were significant rewards on offer from careers in Test and limited-overs internationals.

"If you play well for England over 10 years you will make good money, so that should be our sole goal - to concentrate on doing well and winning games of cricket for England," Pietersen said.

England turned in an awful display against the Caribbean collective, whose determination to pocket the cash was highlighted in their ruthless margin of victory - a 10-wicket success sealed with 44 balls to spare.

Superstars captain Chris Gayle spectacularly hit Andrew Flintoff for six, his fifth of the innings, to reach 65 not out and surpass England's feeble 99.

Opening partner Andre Fletcher sank to his knees in an outpouring of emotion as the celebrations began.

Pietersen, humble in defeat, added: "To see a guy fall over in front of me at the end of the game, crying, with a million dollars in his bank account, was absolutely fantastic.

"I am a human being and these guys are fellow professionals - quite a few of them are a lot less privileged than I am - and to see them so happy was wonderful.

"We blame ourselves for our performance because we are professionals and we should have dealt with stuff a lot better.

"The West Indies guys have been here for six weeks, they did a fantastic job, so hats off to them."
