Dhoni: Yuvraj stood out
India skipper MS Dhoni said stylish left-hander Yuvraj Singh stood out with his special ton in India's win over England.
Dhoni, who himself blazed 39 runs to stitch a vital partnership for India with Yuvraj said he was happy with the fantastic start by the openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag: "The opners gave us a fantastic start. Suresh Raina batted really well and obviously Yuvi stood out with his special knock."
Dhoni was also full of praises for India's new ball bowlers Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel. who ripped the English top order with four early wickets.
"Zaheer and Munaf bowled brilliantly. It was good to get those initial wickets for once we got the first two wickets, we knew we were in with a great chance."
Dhoni said he was not too sure what would be a good score to set for the remainder of the series: "It is difficult to say what would be a good score to set. Given the fact that the batting team can choose one of the powerplays, it would be difficult to set anything less than 350. Maybe, even that would not be a good score."
Meanhile, England skipper Kevin Pietersen said India played super cricket to win the first ODI.
"Yuvraj, Sehwah and Gambhir played brilliantly. It was an amazing pitch to bat on. You touch the ball and it can run away to the fence, you touch it a little harder, it can go for a six."
"There is nothing much you can do when a guy plays as well as Yuvraj did. We need to go back and think where we went wrong. We need to get over with what happened."
"We have to come back stronger and make a mark in the series."
India and England play the second ODI in Indore on Monday.
