Pietersen upbeat despite thumping
England captain Kevin Pietersen is refusing to panic despite his side's crushing first ODI defeat against India on Friday.
After winning the toss and electing to field, Pietersen and his shell-shocked tourists were left utterly bamboozled as Yuvraj Singh smashed a magnificent 138 to lead India to a 158-run win in Rajkot.
Yuvraj's century was the fastest ODI century England have ever conceded and the defeat brought to an abrupt end what had been a blissful introduction to international captaincy for Pietersen.
Nevertheless, England's talented all-rounder was adamant that his side would come back stronger when the action resumes in Indore on Monday.
"If you stand and watch an innings like Yuvraj played and Sehwag you have just got to take your hat off to the way they played," Pietersen explained.
"It was an amazing batting pitch. You just need to touch it and it goes for four... and a bit harder and it goes for six. You've got to say well done, they played super cricket today."
"We'll sit down and see where we made a few mistakes," he said.
"You've got to try to make sure you go over what you've done not so well and regroup. There's six games left in the series and we want to bring some real good cricket to Indore."
