Yuvraj a doubt for Indore ODI

Yuvraj a doubt for Indore ODI

Yuvraj Singh, the hero of India's one-day triumph against England last Friday, is a major doubt for Monday's clash in Indore.

The hard-hitting left-hander battered the tourist attack to make a splendid 138 as India went on to record a crushing and thoroughly deserved 158-run win.

However, Yuvraj's superb knock was, for the most part, completed with a runner after the Chandigarh-born star injured his back during his batting blitz,.

Not surprisingly, India skipper MS Dhoni has declared that he will give Yuvraj as much time as possible to recover before making a decision on whether the 26-year-old is fit enough to play in the second of seven ODIs scheduled to be played between India and England.

"There's considerable improvement in Yuvraj's condition," Dhoni explained.

"We will wait and then make a final call on him just before the match."

Whilst there is a glimmer of hope for Yuvraj, Ishant Sharma is almost certainly out of the Indore encounter.

The tall pace bowler missed the first one-day clash with England thanks to a sprained ankle that he suffered during the fourth and final Test against Australia earlier this month.

Although his injury is responding well to treatment, Team India are reluctant to the throw the fiery Sharma back into the fray before he is fully recovered.

"Ishant is virtually out of the match on Monday," Dhoni said.

"If he doesn't play in Indore, it will give him the five to seven days he needs to recover."

In the wake of their emphatic first ODI win, Dhoni also took time out to urge his players not be complacent on Monday.

"We are always wary of becoming complacent," he said.

"England are a good side, and they have a very good attack. We will not be taking them lightly."
