Border: Never called Ponting selfish

Allan Border strongly denied saying that Australian skipper Ricky Ponting had put himself ahead of the team.

However, the former Aussie skipper stuck to his earlier stand, saying Ponting erred in not pressing into action his regular bowlers at a crucial juncture on the penultimate day of the Nagpur Test.

"I don't know where he (Ponting) is getting his information from," Border was quoted as saying by 'Inside Cricket'.

"We never really talked about it being a personal decision, we were just in commentary and we disagreed with the tactics that were being employed. It was as plain and simple as that.

"There was never any inference about Ricky Ponting making those decisions on a personal level. Certainly there was talk about that, from different journalists or from Indian papers."
