Sharma Ignores conditions

Ishant Sharma claimed the key to securing the one-day series was not to worry about the wet ball in Bangalore.

India bowler Ishant Sharma claimed the key to securing the one-day series against England was not to worry about the wet ball in Bangalore.

India took their second win in a row under the Duckworth-Lewis method to make it four straight victories over England in the seven-match series.

Sharma said of bowling with a wet ball in a match shortened to 22 overs per side and interrupted several times by rain: "It's all part and parcel of the game, we are not thinking about if the ball is wet."

Sharma also admitted the support of senior bowler Zaheer Khan had helped with his bowling.

"If your senior guys give you the confidence it's very good for you," Sharma told Sky Sports 2.

"We just stick to our basics and that's it for us."

India overcame two interruptions for rain and adjustment in overs to power their way to a daunting 166 for four in their 22 overs, giving England a Duckworth-Lewis victory target of 198.

Virender Sehwag smashed 69 off 57 balls including nine fours and three sixes and Yuvraj Singh scored 25 off just 11 balls, including three sixes.

England finished their 22 overs on 178 for eight, the mainstay being an 82-run stand off 48 balls between Owais Shah and Andrew Flintoff.

England captain Kevin Pietersen praised the efforts of Shah and Flintoff whose partnership gave England hope.

"I think the boys gave it a real good run for the money," said Pietersen.

"Owais Shah batted really well today and Freddie helped him out with some good contributions."

Pietersen claimed England would do their best to make the most of the remaining three games in the series.

"We want to make sure this series stays as competitive as possible," he said.

"We came here to win a few games, we wanted to win the series but we didn't do that."
