Dhoni: Zak was of special help
Indian skipper MS Dhoni praised Zaheer Khan for nurturing the bowling attack and helping set attacking fields in the middle.
Dhoni, who led India to a series win against England in Bangalore said Zaheer has been of great help: "Zak's contribution has been special. He has helped me set up the field in the middle and has guided the bowlers well. We should all thank him."
Dhoni said the win was faciliated by a fantastic team effort: "Everybody chipped in. It was a good team effort where the bowlers took wickets and the batsmen scored runs consistently."
The wicketkeeper-batsman said he lets bowlers bowl according to their plans and executes his own only when the initial plans don't work: "I let the bowlers decide what line they want to bowl. Only if that fails, do I come up with my plans. That has paid off so far."
Dhoni revealed he had planned to bring the required run rate for England up in the initial overs. The visitors had to score 198 runs from 22 overs to keep the series alive but got off to the worst possibel starts in the first five overs, scoring at less than four an over.
"It was important for us to get a good start and we tried to take the run rate up."
The Indian skipper hinted there might be some changes in the side for the last three ODI's now that the series is in the pocket: "We might give the others a chance now. However, our target will be to win the remaining games as well."
This might well mean that young Virat Kohli and all-rounder Irfan Pathan could come into the reckoning for the Cuttack ODI on Wednesday.
