The PCB have removed Rawalpindi from the list of venues for India's tour early next year due to delays in refurbishment work.

India are scheduled to play three Tests and five one-day internationals as well as a Twenty20 game in Pakistan early next year.

The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was due to host the second Test and the third one-dayer.

The PCB had sanctioned a plan to renovate the stadium in time for the India tour, but with work being delayed the venue has been dropped.

"We see no chance of Rawalpindi hosting any matches during the India series, as the outfield is still not ready," PCB chief operating officer Salim Altaf said.

"There is also some work left on the stadium too. We have informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India of this decision."

Earlier this year, the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was dropped from the venues for the Champions Trophy, which was eventually postponed until September and October next year.

Rawalpindi last hosted an international in December 2006.

Altaf said Faisalabad and Multan were alternate venues for the matches.
