Harsha: England are right to go back

Expert cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle feels England were right in their decision to go home after the Mumbai terror attacks.

Serial bomb blasts ripped through the city of Mumbai late Wednesday, killing more than 100 people and imjuring more than 200. England met with BCCI officials on Thursday and decided to call off the ongoing tour. The visitors, tralining 5-0 in the seven match ODI series were to travel to Guwahati for the sixth ODI on Saturday. The seventh game was scheduled to be played in New Delhi.

Harsha, writing in his column for espnstar.com said that he does not think that boycotting tours means playing into the hands of terrorists. Sportsmen only have their skills to show. Even in a country like India where cricket is treated like reliogion, the game must take a back seat in the face of a dastardly incident like the Mumbai blasts.

Harsha opines that sports should be played in an environment of joy and not sheer terror.
