Redmond helps Kiwis build total
Aaron Redmond put New Zealand in a strong position at lunch on day one of the second Test against Australia.
The visitors added 95 for the loss of three wickets in the second session with Ross Taylor unbeaten on 40 and Daniel Flynn new to the crease.
Redmond looked to be heading for a maiden Test century, but took on spinner Nathan Hauritz one too many times as his 83 run stand was ended as the aggressive opener added 18 runs to his lunch time tally before being caught by Andrew Symonds at deep midwicket.
Hauritz, who was a late inclusion to the Australia side, started the contest terribly but hit back with two wickets after lunch to improve his figures to 63 for two.
Symonds took a wicket two overs before the break while Mitchell Johnson removed Jamie How before lunch.
