Butt concern over India tour

Butt concern over India tour

PCB chairman Ijaz Butt admitted a decision on whether India would tour in the new year rests with the respective governments.

India are due to play three Tests, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 game on the tour.

But the terror attacks on Mumbai, which have so far resulted in over 120 deaths, have now cast doubt on the series with Butt confirming the PCB would bow to any political ruling.

"Before this tragic incident took place we were pretty confident the Indians would tour," PCB chairman Butt told a press conference.

"But now the scenario has definitely changed and now it is entirely up to the governments what they decide."

The violence has already seen England quit their tour of India although there remains the possibility of Kevin Pietersen and his side returning for two Test matches next month.

The inaugural Champions League Twenty20, due to be staged in India next week, has also been postponed.

Butt added: "England have gone home, the Champions League is postponed so it is not an ideal situation for anyone.

"But if India does come for the tour it will send a clear message to these terrorists they cannot deter the people of both countries from leading normal lives.

"We are trying 200% to have the Indians play in Pakistan.

"If they don't come then we have the option of playing at neutral venues."
