Laing praise for South Africa
Women's cricket president Kerry Laing feels South Africa chances at the Women's World Cup have been greatly enhanced.
Eager to improve on a seventh-placed finish when they hosted the World Cup in 2005, Cricket South Africa have made all resources available to the women's side, including a psychologist.
"We have had the same treatment as the men which has been fantastic," Laing said.
"All the stops were pulled out to make sure that the ladies are well prepared. The women are fitter than ever and the psychologist has helped in making sure we are ready for any sort of challenge.
"We're taking our best possible squad to Australia, we feel we have covered all the areas we need and hopefully that will show in our performances. The ladies are very excited and are raring to go."
South Africa begin their campaign on March 8 against the West Indies in a clash that could prove crucial to their hopes of making the Super Six before taking on hosts Australia and then New Zealand.
Boland all-rounder Sunette Loubser will lead the side while Cri-Zelda Brits, vice-captain Alicia Smith, Susan Benade, Ashlyn Kilowan, Charlize van der Westhuizen and Claire Terblanche are survivors from the 2005 squad.
Laing added that while the aim was to improve on four years ago, he was keen for the squad to enjoy the experience.
"The girls have put in a lot of hard work in their preparations for the tournament, we're as prepared as can be, but if they don't enjoy themselves out there, it's all pointless," he added.
"The state of women's cricket in the country has steadily improved and the team's performance at the World Cup will be a barometer of the progress the sport has made."
