Australia recorded a confidence-boosting victory over England in ICC Women’s World Cup 2009 warm-up match.

Blackwell was flawless striking five fours in a 112-ball knock that took the reigning champions to 214-8 in 50 overs. In reply, England were bowled out for 189 with 24 balls to spare after being 152-4 at one stage.

"Blackwell received good support from Leah Poulton (24) with whom she put on 40 runs for the fifth wicket, the highest partnership of Australia's innings. Lauren Ebsary chipped in with a quickfire 18 while Rene Farrell hit a rapid 15 not out," the release added.

England, were at one stage moving nicely towards the target at 152-4 before Erin Osbourne (2-31) and Shelley Nitschke (2-31) picked up vital wickets as the English side lost its last six wickets for 37 runs to be bowled out for 189.

"England captain Charlotte Edwards was as elegant as ever while hitting seven fours in her 93-ball 72 while Claire Taylor also showed signs of good form while belting six fours in a 47-ball 35. Lydia Greenway contributed 23 runs and added 65 runs for the fourth wicket with her captain," the release said.

"It was good to get out there today since we haven't played for a couple of weeks. We've spent the past week in camp training so to have a hit out against some high quality opposition and test ourselves will help us a lot," said Australia captain Karen Rolton.

"The result doesn't matter too much but we're always happy to win, especially against a team like England who are one of the favourites for the World Cup.

"There are a few things that we need to work on though. I thought England was able to build some good partnerships in their innings which was something we couldn't do with our batting."

In an another warm-up match at Old Kings, New South Wales defeated the West Indies by two wickets.

West Indies, batted first and and recovered from a scray 75-8 to be all out for 145 in 48.4 overs. Number 10 batter Afy Fletcher top scored for them with 36 not out from 80 balls while last batter Anisa Mohammed scored 10 and helped Fletcher add 42 runs for the last wicket.

NSW achieved the 146-run target but were made to toil hard by a late West Indies fight back, winning with six balls and two wickets to spare.

After slipping to 94-7 which soon became 111-8, NSW team was rescued by an unbroken 34-run ninth wicket stand between Alison Parkin (19 not out) and Sharon Millanta (20 not out).
