Gayle still cool as history beckons
Chris Gayle may be on the verge of leading West Indies to a rare Test series victory but he is as cool as ever.
The Windies skipper is clearly not allowing it to invade his thoughts as he prepares for tomorrow's finale at Queen's Park Oval.
England must now bowl West Indies out twice for the first time in four attempts to prevent the hosts claiming the Wisden Trophy.
"It's been five years?" Gayle asked, in his customary cool style.
"It will mean a lot to me, but I treat myself as any other player.
For the fans
"To actually be a part of it would be really nice for the people around the Caribbean.
"This is a big, big game ahead of us. I just have to do what I can do to help.
"We haven't turned the corner as yet - there is still a way to go.
"We will only turn it by winning the series; we have a hand on the trophy right now, so let's see what happens in the next couple of days."
Leading a series heading into the final match is unchartered territory for this West Indies team, and Gayle admitted: "It's a tricky situation, but we don't want to go in with the mindset of playing for a draw.
"We still have to go out there and play positive cricket.
"It wouldn't come easy"
"England have to throw everything at us; we expect it to be tough and we will have to do the basic things right.
"I am very happy with the batting but I will not settle for what we've done so far. If we can get more then we will take it.
"Ramnaresh Sarwan has been in tremendous form, and it is up to all of us to support him."
West Indies are expected to make two changes for the series finale, seamer Lionel Baker expected to earn a second cap in place of Daren Powell and local boy Lendl Simmons set for his Test bow at the expense of Ryan Hinds in the middle order.
