Mendis recovering well

Sri Lanka spinner Ajantha Mendis is recovering well after undergoing surgery to remove shrapnel from the back of his head.

The 23-year-old was one of seven players injured in the terror attack on the Sri Lanka team in Lahore on Tuesday.

Mendis is being treated at the Nawaloka Hospital.

"Ajantha underwent yet another minor surgery on Wednesday to remove more shrapnel from the current wound on the back of his head," Mendis' manager Roshan Abeysinghe said in a statement.

"He is recovering well and has been requested to rest for a few more days in the hospital."

Thilan Samaraweera, Tharanga Paranavitana, captain Mahela Jayawardene, vice-captain Kumar Sangakkara, Suranka Lakmal and Chaminda Vaas were also hurt in the attack.
