
"I was expecting 10 more overs"
India skipper MS Dhoni said that he was expecting another 10 overs to mop up New Zealand and finish 2-0 up.
"I am just a bit disappointed that the match ended in a draw. Ten more overs and we could have mopped up the tail," said Dhoni.
Dhoni though was all praise for the team.
"We performed as a team. The catching was brilliant and the lower order batsman's contribution came in really handy and played a vital part in the series win," said Dhoni in the post match presentation ceremony.
He went on to say that though the bowlers struggled bowling against the wind, the way the seniors guided the youngsters was very important and that is what the success should be attributed to.
"Our bowlers struggled against the wind but then the seniors always guided the youngsters. We have a very good blend of experienced guys and young players which augurs well for the team," said Dhoni.
Vettori counts positives
Dhoni's counterpart Daniel Vettori was obviously disappointed losing the series at home. He still counted the positives after that.
"Ross Taylor and James Franklin did a good job. The batsman have done well in the series and Jesse Ryder has been truly special," said Vettori.
Gauti happy with performance
Gautam Gambhir who was declared the Man of the Match said that this tour was supposed to be his biggest challenge and he is happy with his performance.
"It was one of the biggest challenges for me. When you are playing with legends of the game, it takes lots of pressure off your shoulders. You can just go there, relax and play your own game."
Congratulations pour in
Meanwhile Shashank Manohar, president of the BCCI, has extended his congratulations to the Indian cricket team, for its outstanding display in New Zealand.
The Board president has announced a bonus of Rs. 15 lakhs to every player who participated in the Test and One-Day series. The Support-Staff will also receive a bonus of Rs. 10 lakhs each, according to a BCCI press release.
President Pratibha Patil has also congratulated the Indian cricket team for winning the Test series.
