Marsh: Voges still in the mix

Australian Shaun Marsh is confident his Western Australian mate Adam Voges can comeback in national side.

Voges has been omitted from Australia's one-day squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan and it appears the batsman's withdrawal from the current squad playing in South Africa because of his wedding may have cost him selection.

Batsmen Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey, along with bowler Mitchell Johnson, have been rested for the six-match series in the neutral United Arab Emirates, which consists of five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 fixture.

But despite Ponting and Hussey's absence, Voges has not been recalled with national selectors opting to reinstate all-rounders Andrew Symonds and Shane Watson while also bringing in opener Marsh, who has recovered from a severe hamstring injury he suffered in Australia's one-day loss to New Zealand in February.

Adam will be disappointed said Marsh

"I'm sure Adam will be disappointed," said Marsh.

"But at the end of the day, he made that decision and it was a decision that was definitely not wrong or right.

"It was his wedding and it was a very important day for him.

"So I'm sure he'll be disappointed but he'll move on, he'll go to Nottinghamshire now and I'm sure he'll have a good season over there and Adam's definitely not out of international contention yet I don't think."

Having debuted for Australia's one-day side during the 2007 New Zealand tour, Voges was on the fringes of national selection for two years, before being recalled to the ODI squad last summer when Marsh was injured and selectors rested Ponting.

Voges did well in T20s against NZ

Voges was not able to work his way back into the one-day side, however, but did play two Twenty20 matches for Australia at the end of the season, averaging 26.00 against New Zealand.

Speaking after his withdrawal, Voges said he did not expect national selectors to hold any grudges, although he was well aware of his decision's consequences.

"I spoke at length to Andrew Hilditch and (Australian coach) Tim Nielsen and they were both really good, they were both really supportive and Andrew said, 'look, this won't affect you in any negative fashion'," Voges said.

"So that's always reassuring to hear, but he did say at the same time, there's no guarantee that there will be further selection, so it's up to me now to play good enough cricket to get another chance."

Lee comes back in ODI squad

Despite an inconsistent summer for both Australia and the Warriors, Marsh has been selected for the Pakistan tour, the opener saying he is fit and keen to consolidate his place in the national team.

"The hamstring's 100 percent and I'm confident that it'll be fine for the rest of the year," Marsh said.

"I had a bit of a break now and to be back playing for Australia is fantastic and I'm looking forward to it."

Marsh's selection for the Pakistan series means he will miss the first eight matches of the Indian Premier League for his club, the Punjab Kings XI.
