"Win at home would have been great"
Pakistan skipper Younis Khan saying the victory over Australia would have been sweeter in front of the home crowd.
"The team would have loved to perform well in front of home crowds instead of playing a big series like this one at a neutral venue," Younis told the 'Geo TV'.
Pakistan beat Australia by four wickets in the first One-day International in Dubai to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Younis said even though the Pakistan team had 80 per cent support from the crowd at the Dubai Sports City, the players still missed playing at home.
Pakistan have been forced to play at neutral venues due to the security situation in the country.
The ICC last week also moved the 2011 World Cup matches from Pakistan due to security concerns.
Exploits
Younis also said having watched Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh's exploits against the Australians, he had realised the visitors were not comfortable against off-break bowlers.
"They have not been comfortable against Harbhajan or Saqlain Mushtaq in the past and we knew they would find it difficult against our spinners," Younis said.
Shahid Afridi took career best figures of 6 for 38 and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal took two wickets as Pakistan controlled the game against the Australians who choose to bat first. But Younis had no doubt the Australians would come back stronger in the remaining matches.
"They made us fight hard even while chasing a low total. That is why they are the best team in the world. I am sure we have to play better cricket to keep our winning momentum," he added.
Consistency
The captain said he would have batted first if he had won the toss as it was not easy batting under lights at the new stadium.
"The lighting system is different and the ball does a lot in the second innings. It cuts, seams and swings and batting is definitely not easy under lights," he said.
Younis made it clear that he wanted to more consistency from his side despite winning the first match.
He also said Afridi's performance was not unexpected as he had loads of talent and could still do better.
"That is what I am looking from my team -- more consistency. Like for example Shahid, he can do better for he has the talent. I don't care if we lose because I really don't have much expectations from my team but I want them to fight hard all the time in every match."
