Earlier, a business-like ton from Shane Watson helped Australia post a healthy 250 for four in the fifth and final ODI against Pakistan.

Watson, who opened the innings alongside Brad Haddin (36), struck an unbeaten 116 - only his second ODI century in 77 matches - and pieced together small but useful partnerships throughout to steer Australia to a commanding total in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Callum Ferguson chipped in with a cameo worth an unbeaten 41 from 42 deliveries to help Australia reach the 250-run mark.

Pakistan have already lost the series

Pakistan, who have already lost the series, have not scored over 200 in the four previous matches, nor have they batted for their full 50 overs.

Watson started cautiously against a strong spell from fast bowler Umar Gul, who returned to the side after being rested for the previous game.

Gul shared the new ball with Shoaib Akhtar and in his first spell beat the outside edge on a couple of occasions, while he was a touch unfortunate when a nick off Watson fell short of Misbah-ul-Haq at first slip with the batsman on three.

It's all about numbers

Watson again survived another close call when a heave landed just wide of two fielders at mid-wicket and then ruined the bowler's immaculate figures by clubbing him for a four and a six off successive deliveries in his third over.

Haddin had looked in ominous form and relieved much of the pressure with boundaries in each of Shoaib's first three overs and cracked first-change bowler Yasir Arafat for successive blows in the paceman's first over which yielded 13 runs.

He was dismissed before he could become really destructive, however, an uppish drive off Shoaib being smartly snapped up by Younus Khan at short mid-off. His knock came off just 31 deliveries and produced 58 runs for the first wicket with Watson.

Marcus North recorded another failure, while Michael Clarke (26) and Andrew Symonds (15) both got starts but fell before they could capitalise.

Ferguson, however, dug in and saw out the innings with Watson, the duo adding 84 runs for the fifth wicket.
