PCB fumes over Asif's UK trip

The PCB committee probing Mohammad Asif's detention in Dubai is miffed with him for travelling to the UK without informing it.

The PCB said the committee has decided that if Asif is unable to return from to attend the next hearing of the committee on June 1, it would proceed to give a decision in his absence.

Asif was detained for 19 days in Dubai for possession of 0.24 grams of hashish last June while returning from India.

He was later released and documents of the public prosecutor's office in Dubai show that he was deported from Dubai.

The PCB committee headed by former Test captain Wasim Bari has been waiting for Asif to submit documents confirming he is not barred from entering Dubai again.

The committee has said Asif, who left for UK few days back, had not given any documents to clarify the matter.

Asif, who is already serving a 12-month suspension from cricket for failing a dope test in the Indian Premier League last year, could face financial penalties if he fails to satisfy the inquiry committee.
