Ajmal to face action scrutiny

Ajmal to face action scrutiny

PCB has confirmed that Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal is set to undergo tests on his bowling action in Australia.

Ajmal was reported for a suspect action by the on-field umpires at the end of the second One-dayer between Pakistan and Australia in Dubai last month.

Ajmal has now been sent to Perth where an independent analysis of his action will be conducted by Australian biomechanics expert Dr Bruce Elliot.

Elliot has worked with other Pakistan bowlers including Shoaib Akhtar and Shoaib Malik in the past.

World Cup chances

Despite being reported by the umpires, Ajmal was picked in the Pakistan team for next month's ICC World Twenty20 in England.

"His chances of playing in the World Cup hinge on Dr Elliot's report," a PCB spokesman said.
Under International Cricket Council laws, Ajmal is required to submit an independent analysis of his action within 14 days of the tests occurring.

Should Ajmal bowl even a single illegal delivery during the tests, he would be banned and would then have to undertake remedial measures.
