"Joining ICL was perhaps a mistake"

Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq reckons joining the 'rebel' ICL was perhaps a mistake on his part.

"Perhaps it was an error on my part but those two years are behind me now and I want to enjoy my remaining cricketing years playing for Pakistan," Razzaq said. on Thursday.

The all-rounder, a veteran of 46 Tests and 231 one-day internationals, has been cleared by the ICC to join the Pakistan team in the World Twenty20 tournament in place of the injured pacer Yasir Arafat.

Razzaq thus became the first ICL player to be allowed to play for his national team once again after resigning from the rebel league.

"When I joined the ICL in 2007, I was frustrated at being dropped from the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup and by the behavior of the board and some officials. But now those two years are behind me and it is like a dream come true for me to be able to represent my country again," the 29-year old said.

Razzaq was one of the top performers of the ICL and said he was hopeful of joining the team before their Super Eight match against Sri Lanka on Friday.

"It is a big occasion for me to be back on the international arena. It was a different experience playing in the ICL. But now I want to do well for my national team," he said.

And he thinks he would not face any problems adjusting back into the Pakistan team. Having last played for the national side in 2007.

"I know most of the players and we have played a lot together. Besides, captain Younis Khan has been very supportive of us even when we were with the ICL," he added.

Meanwhile, indications are that the Pakistan Cricket Board would also select senior batsman Mohammad Yousuf for the forthcoming Test tour of Sri Lanka since he has also resigned from the ICL.

Doubts, however, exist over the future of Imran Nazir and Rana Naved, two ICL players who say they want to play for their country again.
