Virender Sehwag is unlikely to be fit for the Champions Trophy after being ruled out for 10 weeks following shoulder surgery.

India opener Sehwag injured his shoulder on Indian Premier League duty for the Delhi Daredevils but was selected nonetheless for the ICC World Twenty20 in England.

A further inspection from national team doctors ruled him out of the 20-over showpiece and his place in the squad was handed to Dinesh Kartik.

Sehwag has already started his rehabilitation but is unlikely to be fit for the Champions Trophy, a one-day tournament which gets under way in South Africa on September 24.
