Yousuf in Pak squad for SL tour
Mohammad Yousuf returned to the national fold as Pakistan selectors announced a 15-member squad for the tour of Sri Lanka.
After almost a year of flip-flops leading to his complex legal wrangles with the ICL, IPL and the Cricket Board, the senior batsman has finally found a place in team for the series starting next week.
In-form star all-rounder Shahid Afridi has opted out of the Tests but will return for the one-dayers after some rest. Spinner Danish Kaneria and batsman Khurrum Manzoor, who made his debut for Pakistan in this year's home Test series against Sri Lanka, were also recalled in the touring side, which also has lone new face in pacer Abdur Rauf.
Yousuf became the second Pakistan player after allrounder Abdul Razzaq, who featured in the Twenty20 World Cup, to play for the country after severing links with the 'rebel' Indian Cricket League.
The newly crowned T20 World Champions will play three Tests, five one-day internationals and a one-off T20 match during Sri Lanka tour.
Yousuf, who last played a Test in December 2007 against India and an ODI in July 2008, joined the ICL only to be barred from representing the national team but was later coaxed back to the mainstream by the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Indian Premier League, which resulted in the ICL dragging him to court.
Pakistan squad: Younus Khan (captain), Misbah-ul-Haq (vice-captain), Salman Butt, Khurram Manzoor, Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Aamir, Danish Kaneria, Abdul Razzaq, Abdur Rauf, Faisal Iqbal, Fawad Alam.
