BCCI to decide on Deodhar dates
The BCCI seems to be having second thoughts over cancelling this year's Deodhar Trophy inter-zonal limited overs tournament.
The Indian Cricket Board is having second thoughts over the matter after sources in the Tour Programme and Fixtures Committee had indicated Deodhar Trophy is not going to be held this year.
"Schedules of the Prof D B Deodhar Trophy and the Twenty20 Super League for the Mushtaq Ali Trophy (are) to be finalized in the Working Committee Meeting," BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said on Saturday in a media release while releasing the full seniors domestic schedule for the 2009-10 season.
Deodhar Trophy has been held every year since its inception in 1973-74, first as a 60-over per side tournament and then as a 50-over one since 1980-81.
The juniors programme would be released later, Srinivasan said.
As already announced on July 1, the season is to begin with the newly introduced Corporate Challenge Trophy from September 1-8 in south zone centres.
This would be followed by the traditional season-opening Irani Cup clash between previous year's Ranji Trophy winners (Mumbai) and the Rest of India, to be held from October 1-5 at Nagpur.
Nagpur will also play host to the N K P Salve Challenger (day/night) Trophy from October 8-11.
