Former captain Aamer Sohail has rubbished the report that he has been served with a showcause notice by the PCB.

Reports claimed that Sohail was served with a showcause notice by the Pakistan Cricket Board for failing to attend an ICC course on game development in England.

Sohail reportedly reacted strongly to a showcause notice sent to him by PCB director of human resources Wasim Bari over his inability to attend the course in England, but the former opening batsman denied the fact.

"It was not a show cause notice. It was an internal office memo. An unnecessary controversy is being created out of nothing," Sohail said.

Sohail, who is also the director of game development in the PCB, was asked by chairman Ejaz Butt to attend the ICC course but he could not make it due to his wife's illness.

"I had informed the board that since my wife is not keeping well I can't go to England. I told my assistant and colleague Ali Zia, who is a qualified coach and was also in England, to attend the course in my place," Sohail said.

But the PCB sources stated that Butt was not happy with Sohail not going to England as the former felt that the course was quite important.

"I don't think a director can send any notice to another director. It is an internal office memo," Sohail insisted.

Interestingly, the notice was issued by Bari in the presence of PCB's chief operating officer Saleem Altaf, who technically should have issued the notice to Sohail being his superior.

However, Bari maintained he had done that only after being instructed by the PCB chairman Butt.
