The outspoken CAB official said the CAB and BCCI are democratic bodies and anyone is welcome to contest elections.

"Look, you cannot just think of the post of president when you are contesting elections. There is always a lot of work to do.

"The post will come to you, not the other way around. It's about how honestly you are working. You just can't dream of being a president out of the blue."

Dey brushed aside the theory that Ganguly, being a former India captain, will bring along his experience of having played the game at the highest level to administration.

"You cannot always think of a specialisation. In that sense, only an economist should have become the Finance Minister, an academician should have become the Education Minister and a soldier should have become the Defence Minister.

"Is that ever the case? It all depends on the kind of work you put in."

But wasn't it Dalmiya who had backed Ganguly through thick and thin since his early days? How would he feel with someone so close officially announces his candidature against him?

'Personal feelings will always remain. It is between (Mr) Dalmiya and Ganguly. Emotions do not stand in the way when such things are concerned."

Meanwhile, Dey reiterated that the CAB has cordial relations with the BCCI and there are no rifts at all.

"We have good relations with the BCCI and there are no problems."

The scene in Bengal cricket is beginning to heat up. Ganguly or Dalmiya. Who will be the new kingmaker from the East? Only time will tell.
