Faisal Iqbal to lead Pak 'A'
Faisal Iqbal will lead a 16-member Pakistan 'A' squad on a tour of Sri Lanka starting August 2.
With the team already touring Australia and some players performing well, the decision to announce the squad for the Sri Lankan tour so early has come as a surprise.
More so, when there is no national selection committee functioning at the moment and a board-appointed interim set-up handling selection matters.
The PCB also said that it would be naming a new selection committee by July 21 which has raised questions over the necessity of announcing the 'A' squad so early.
The selectors have also changed the captain for the Sri Lankan tour with batsman Faisal Iqbal replacing all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez.
The squad: Khalid Latif, Umar Amin, Azhar Ali, Khurram Manzoor, Umar Akmal, Faisal Iqbal (Capt), Fahad Iqbal, Shaharyar Ghani, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Muhammad Talha, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah, Naveed Arif, Fahad Masood, Nayyar Abbas and Abdul Rehman.
