Martin returns to NZ's ODI side
Pace bowler Chris Martin has been named in New Zealand's preliminary squad of 30 players for the Champions Trophy.
On the expected lines, former Indian Cricket League (ICL) recruits Shane Bond and Daryl Tuffey were also included in the squad for the event to be held in South Africa.
Martin, who has not played a limited-overs game since February last year, was dropped after a poor performance in the home series against England last year when he took just five wickets.
Another player to receive a recall after more than year in the cold is batsman James Marshall, who has scored 388 in 10 State Shield innings for Northern Districts.
Head of the selection panel Glenn Turner said: "The majority of these players will be in action over the next six weeks with the Black Caps in Sri Lanka, or the New Zealand A side going to India.
"This means that the players who make the final Champions Trophy squad will have had some cricket under their belts going in to the tournament".
The final tournament squad of 15 players is due to be named by August 23.
