Sushil: Cricketers can trust WADA

Sushil Kumar has advised the country's cricketers to accept the WADA's 'whereabouts' clause without any reservation.

The Olympic bronze medallist wrestler who is a WADA signatory, said the World Anti-doping Agency would not divulge players' personal information to anyone and cricketers could be assured of maintaining their privacy.

"Why are cricketers worrying so much? The worries of cricketers about infringement of privacy and possible security threat are not justified. I am also a signatory to WADA's clauses and strictly adhere to its rules and regulations," Sushil told PTI.

"All the sports federations and players around the world are anti-doping agency's signatories and abide by its various clauses. I never felt that they were divulging any players' personal information to anyone," he added.

Sushil feels that while cricketers of England, South Africa and Australia have already signed without complains, their Indian counterparts can also trust the WADA.

"I don't know why Indian cricketers are having so much problem with it," Sushil said.

The grappler also endorsed Sports Minister M S Gill's view that cricketers should fall in line with doping agency's 'whereabouts' clause.

Terming the preparations for the upcoming World Wrestling Championship in Denmark next month as "excellent", Kumar said all the participants are fully fit and ready to give their 100 per cent.

"All the players are fit and fine and are happy with the arrangements made by the federation. We will give all out efforts to make the Indian tri-colour flying high," he said.

"Training camps at different venues across the country are quite helpful for the wrestlers as the preparations for big events, including next year's Senior Asian Championship and Delhi Commonwealth Games, are on," he added.
