Klusener set for Cobras role

Lance Klusener is set for a coaching role with the Dolphins this season after cutting ties with the rebel ICL.

Cricket South Africa today confirmed the 38-year-old had been reinstated within its structures after his home province, Kwa-Zulu Natal, had nominated him for the next Bakers' Level Three coaching course.

The course, which has produced graduates such as current India coach Gary Kirsten and former Proteas boss Graeme Ford, will be held at the CSA High Performance Centre in Pretoria early next month.

Klusener, who played 49 Tests and 171 one-day internationals for his country, is most famous for his hard-hitting lower order ability, which saw him named Player of the Tournament at the 1999 ICC World Cup in England.

His return has been welcomed by CSA chief executive officer, Gerald Majola.

He said: "It is great to have Lance Klusener back in the CSA fold. He rightfully gained legendary status as a Proteas' all-rounder, and helped change the face of limited overs cricket worldwide.

"We are particularly impressed and pleased with his decision to become a top-level coach because he still has so much to offer in bringing through the next generation."

CSA coaching manager Anton Ferreira was also pleased with Klusener's return, saying it added to an already impressive list of former cricketers that will be in attendance.

"Lance is one of several former international cricketers who will be attending this course," he said.

"Others include Roger Telemachus, Paul Adams and Neil Johnson and it is very encouraging that we have cricketers of this quality coming into our coaching structures."
