Haddin to undergo surgery

Haddin to undergo surgery

Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin, who was ruled out of the ODI series in England with an injury will undergo a surgery.

Haddin will undergo an operation on the finger he broke during the Ashes series and will therefore miss the two Twenty20 matches and seven one-day internationals over the next month.

He returned to Australia immediately after the 197-run defeat to England in the fifth npower Test at The Oval, which condemned the tourists to their second successive Ashes loss on British soil.

An Australia team spokesman said: "Brad is going to have surgery in Sydney tomorrow.

"The advice we have received is he will be unavailable for the series here in England.

"There will be a decision on whether he is fit to play in the Champions Trophy at a later date."

Tasmania's uncapped gloveman Tim Paine is the reserve wicketkeeper in the Australian touring party and he is now destined to make his international bow against Scotland tomorrow ahead of the campaign against England.

Australia will be led against the Scots by Michael Clarke, who is also Australia's Twenty20 leader, after Ricky Ponting returned Down Under for a few days in the aftermath of the Ashes loss.
