Indian team wraps up camp

The Indian cricket team wrapped up its four-day preparatory camp with a final session of batting and bowling drills on Sunday.

The camp that began on Thursday for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy, initially laid stress on fitness, followed by some batting, bowling and fielding practice under the watchful eyes of coach Gary Kirsten.

The camp also saw senior players like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid sharing tips with some younger cricketers on facing short-pitched deliveries.

Mediapersons waiting at the Karnataka State Cricket Association (B) grounds, where the players held nets, were disappointed on after word came that skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni would not talk to reporters.

Most players who packed their bags on Sunday are playing in the season-opener Sahara BCCI Corporate Trophy to be staged from September 1 to 8 at Mohali, Vishakhapatnam, Dharamsala and Bangalore.

After the event, the team will leave for Sri Lanka to take part in the tri-series which also features New Zealand. The short series would be followed by the Champions Trophy in South Africa.
