2011 WC budget to be approved

The Central Organising Committee of the 2011 World Cup, headed by Sharad Pawar, is to meet in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The committee, among other things, will approve the budget for the mega event.

The meeting is set to finalise the budgeted cost for the 50-over event to be hosted jointly by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in March-April, 2011, which has been worked out to USD 115 million.

The meeting is also set to discuss the operation plan, host country guarantees and venue inspection programme, it was learnt.

The meeting is to be attended by Pawar, BCCI President Shashank Manohar, secretary N Srinivasan, treasurer M P Pandove, Lt. Gen Sina Ibn Jamali, Shafiqur Rehman, convenor Mahbulbul Anam (all from Bangladesh), D S D'Silva, Nishantha Ranatunga and Sujeewa Rakapakse of Sri Lanka.

Also attending would be BCCI CAO and Tournament Director, Prof Ratnakar Shetty, and International Cricket Council's General Manager (Commercial), Campbell Jamieson both of whom are members of the COC, along with I S Bindra, who plays an advisory role in the ICC.

ICC's Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat, who is to be in the city to announce the long list of nominees for the world governing council's annual awards, is also expected to attend the meeting as a special invitee.
