The MCC Museum at Lord's in London is the world's oldest sporting museum and, to this day, it remains both world-class and world-famous.

Clare Skinner said, "At the end of the WT20 final, MCC asked both the captains to donate their shirts to the MCC Museum for future display. Both agreed to this.

"Sangakarra donated his shirt at once, Afridi forwarded his to us several weeks later once he had returned to Pakistan. Both shirts are due to go on display in the next few weeks once other items on temporary display are removed."

Pakistan had won the ICC World Twenty20 in an exciting finish at a noisy Lord's when Sri Lanka's total of 138-6 was overhauled with eight balls remaining.

"Sourav Ganguly shirt is on display in the Museum. This is the ODI shirt from 2003," she further added.

While it contains a wide range of exhibits, it is best-known for being the home of The Ashes. Other popular attractions include the stuffed sparrow that was 'bowled out' by Jehangir Khan in 1936, and the copy of Wisden that helped to sustain EW 'Jim' Swanton throughout his captivity, in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp, during the Second World War.

Lord's Museum's other displays include cricket kit used by some of the greatest players of all time - such as Victor Trumper, Jack Hobbs, Don Bradman and Shane Warne.

Many such items date back to the 19th century. Indeed, the Museum benefits from the fact that MCC has been collecting cricketing artefacts since 1864. Over 140 years later, MCC continues to enhance its collection of historic and contemporary items.
